I am honored to announce my candidacy for Otsego County Judge. I am a native of this area having lived for over 18 years in Otsego County, after growing up in Bainbridge. There is no other place my husband and I would choose to live and raise our three children. My appreciation of and commitment to the area is reflected in my community involvement. I have been a member of both the Otsego and Chenango County Bar Associations since I was admitted to practice. I am the President of the Chenango County Bar Association, having been chosen to be the first President to serve a two year term. I have been extensively involved in the New York State Bar Association Mock Trial Tournament, as County Coordinator, judge and attorney advisor. I have served as Church Clerk, Deacon, Trustee and presently Moderator of the Gilbertsville Baptist Church. I was President of the Butternut Cooperative Nursery School for four years.
I have extensive experience in the areas of law and courts that an Otsego County Judge must handle. I first worked with an experienced and well respected attorney at the start of my career and then had my own practice. When the opportunity presented itself, I became the Court Attorney for the Hon. Kevin M. Dowd, who was the Chenango County Judge. Because of that position, I know the law, the procedures and the inner workings of County Court, Family Court and Surrogate’s Court, the three courts a County Judge serves. I became the Principal Law Clerk for Judge Dowd after he was elected to Supreme Court. This is a position I have been honored to hold for over 9 years.
I believe I possess the knowledge and experience required for this important position.
